The NZ-PNG Business Council invites you to attend an after 5 event to

 

  • meet New Zealand’s newly appointed High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea;
  • hear from a major PNG logistics and transport company, with operations in New Zealand;
  • receive an update from the ANZ Bank on managing financial risk in PNG.

 

Sue Mackwell has been appointed New Zealand High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea and departs for Port Moresby after her Auckland programme.  New Zealand and PNG enjoy a strong and longstanding relationship that includes regular political consultations, a large development assistance programme, significant business and commercial linkages, and defence cooperation.  Prior to her appointment, Sue held senior management positons at the Ministry of Social Development.

 

Grant Wakerley is International Logistics Manager at Mapai (NZ) Limited.  The Mapai Group is a PNG-based logistics business, covering road transport, custom clearance and freight forwarding.  Since commencing operations in 1985 with a single vehicle, Mapai now operates out of depots in Lae, Mt Hagen and Goroka with a large fleet of trucks, trailers and containers.  The company’s objective is to maintain its leadership in the transport industry as a top-tier transport/logistics company.

 

Patrick Brockie is Head of Loans & Specialised Finance, Institutional for ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited.  ANZ has been in PNG since 1910. The bank has 14 branches nationwide and 42 ATMs.  ANZ works closely with NZ companies on their banking needs in-country and facilitates trade and access to foreign exchange.
